BTC installed...but why is it behaving weird???

Okay, so 16 BTDC, knob at 0, no ping....so today I set the timing at 18 BTDC set the knob at 12 o'clock and started retarding one click at the time...I heard pinging at 1 click mark...wowowo..so that's what pinging is like I set it back to the 3rd click from 0 to be safe.
Wow..my hesitation at take off is GONE

Okay this is the answer I got from TOO. I am currently running at 18 BTDC and 3 click away from 0 w/out ping. I'm going to set my timing back to 16 BTDC and knob set at 3 click away from zero...and LIVE LONG

Engine timing is largely dictated by the condition of each individual
engine, so finding the timing threshold will be a trial and error
proposition for you.
Remember that the more ignition advance you run, the more negative work
the engine's doing, so advancing the timing as far as possible prior to
hearing knock can be a performance losing situation.
Another thing you should keep in mind....all detonation isn't audible
and the results of detonation are cumulative.
